Falling back!

Carol's trip to Spruce It Up was made with joyful anticipation but at the same time, with a good deal of apprehension... butterflies were mentioned... but OH! Look at this gorgeous quilt. Stonehenge, batiks, and some glitter... so pretty. It's expertly pieced too, making quilting an easy job.

She chose Vanilla Cream pantograph by Anne Bright with Superior Threads King Tut Variegated #906, a beautiful mix of oranges, greens, browns, yellows. That's Carol in the center between Holly on the left and Bernice who came to offer support.

Quilting on Lolah though is Joan! Why, do you ask? Carol had some shopping to do... she did manage to quilt several rows of the design but she was willing to let others also get the chance to try out Lolah! What a great friend! 

 Holly even gave it a go while Carol sipped her coffee... :)

What a gorgeous quilt Carol! A great job collaborating on the quilting ladies. It's a beauty and I'm sure the recipient will be thrilled to get it! 

The stitching on the back is hardly noticeable but the texture is quite lovely! 

There's something about fall colors that warms my heart and these are so pretty... Doesn't it look cozy?

Carol I hope your butterflies are gone now. Your two-toned binding will look awesome.

Lolah is loving all this attention girls... come back soon!

Snowmen!

On this snowy Sunday, Nov 2nd 2014, at least for some parts of New Brunswick (and some other parts of Canada), it is fitting to showcase photos of Marsha's snowmen quilt. This was a windfall of a guild/quilt group's effort: she won the appliqué blocks and constructed the remainder of the blocks from her collection of fabrics. What a beauty!

The Death Grip! At the end of a long day quilting, you just want to make sure everything works out perfectly... the store was busy that day and Hollie was a terrific supporter and advisor to Marsha. Marsha free handed the whole quilt!! BRAVO!!

I have the best fun looking at the backings... this one is gorgeous with the star tone-on-tone fabric. Very appropriate!

And here it is in all its glory! What a fabulous quilt. Marsha chose a wool batting for this quilt and the loft is perfect. Thread is by FilTec called Tar Heel which is a beautiful pale blue and on that border and the dark fabrics it sparkles! Marsha mentioned she would never have chosen that one had she not seen it on her quilt when auditioning from a large selection of thread. It just goes to show that what you think will NOT look good on your quilt might be a wonderful surprise!

It's just fabulous Marsha! You did an amazing job!

Hollie also deserves an applause for all the help she provided! One could just see the "wheels" turning in her head at how she will tackle her time on Lolah!! Can't wait to see what you will quilt on Lolah, Hollie!!

2 FOR 1 quilting day!

Odette returned on Monday to work on Lolah... she was very ambitious bringing 2 quilts!!

Her first one is called a lasagna quilt. Have you heard of this? I hadn't and neither had Holly. 

BTW: Say hello to Holly, a new part-time employee who started on Monday. She too, is anxious to try out Lolah so this was a great learning experience for her watching and counseling Odette on quilting designs. Holly is an expert piecer as well as a dedicated and experienced hand quilter.

Odette chose Chinese Lanterns as a pantograph to quilt in the wide borders and chose to freehand the center panel.

Did I mention that Odette is an artist also? This came in very handy and in no time, she was using only one hand to guide Lolah. 

This is a camp quilt for her husband. I love the look of this quilt and I'm sure her husband will be quite pleased to wrap himself up in it after a good day's hunt!

Details of the deer and the hunting lodge on the back... didn't I say she's an artist?

With an hour or so left before she had to leave to attend a meeting, we loaded her Winnie the Pooh baby quilt top. The red snappers really make this job easy and quick! 

Here she decided to quilt the center panel on Lolah and finish the borders at home. In no time she had this one quilted. 

I love her artistic flare in this quilt!

 Isn't this darling? I can't wait to see it bound and ready for gifting!
